Alturki Holding Company, one of the premier family businesses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, provided a charitable donation to the Palestine Association for Children’s Encouragement of Sports (PACES), a UK based charity, that provides after-school sports programs for Palestinian children who are living in refugee camps in Palestine and Jordan.

The donation is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to active social investment and will facilitate the four-month program for 200 children aged between 8 and 16 years, 50% of whom are girls. The donation will also support the 20 coaches and assistant coaches and 11 community partners that will be involved in the program.

The aim of the program is to provide children with access to safe playgrounds, enhance their life skills through sports programs and educational activities and empower them to become active citizens within their communities. It also enhances the wellbeing and employability of the young coaches that are involved in the program and improves the capacity of participating local partners to become an important part of the development of sustainable communities going forward.

Commenting on the philanthropic initiative,

Corporate Communications, Sustainability and Strategic Partnerships Director at Alturki Holding Company, Mr. Anas Aljuraifani said: “We are honoured to continue to lend our support to PACES in line with our sustainability strategy. Our social responsibility programs and support focuses on empowering youth with quality education and this program, which we have supported for eight years, provides children with multiple educational benefits to help them thrive in their own communities.”  He added: “Conditions in refugee camps and the surrounding marginalized communities are generally poor. Children themselves suffer from high levels of stress as they have no access to safe places to play and to develop psychologically and socially like other children and that’s why these types of programs are so important as they grant children a sense of normalcy while also supporting the development of sustainable communities”.

“Since our beginning more than four decades ago, we have worked to be a responsible business and community partner and we intend to maintain that commitment well into the future, Allah willing”, he concluded.

Ms. Rayan Ghosheh, Program Development & Outreach Director at PACES said: “We are wholeheartedly grateful for the support Alturki has generously provided PACES’ programs over the past eight years and look forward to seeing the positive impact of this latest round of support for the upcoming season; especially after such a difficult period without sports for the children and coaches. It is with the essential support of kind donors such as Alturki that PACES is able to achieve its mission to provide children with life skills and safe spaces to help them develop, thrive, and lead in their societies, as well as offer fair opportunities to other members of the community in marginalised areas in Palestine, Jordan, and Lebanon.”
